The internet is serious business

Some wit got in a bit over his head. He made up a fake GoogleAd imitating the current cheeky Nokia campaign and attributed it to Apple. Apple Legal came a-knockin’ as the story spread like wildfire through the techy blogosphere. The stock’s been volatile lately as people try to figure out how well the iPhone is actually selling. PR gaffes like this only magnify the swings.

The perpetrator is, understandably, shaken up by how his little gag spun out of control. Blogging can really start to feel like an exercise of writing letters to no one. It’s a rude surprise to find out you have readers and that your actions have consequences.
