McDonald’s actually had a pizza that was test-marketed sometime in the mid-1980s in the American southeast somewhere. I remember stopping on the way to North Carolina as a kid and sampling this lame effort, which resembled in looks and taste a large round saltine covered in ketchup and low-grade meat. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t make it to the larger market, but it remains as a curiouis presage to today’s era of jumbled fast food selling (e.g., salads at McD’s, fried chicken in the Taco Bell tacos, etc.)
